DIY At Home Shawarma (aka Fake Lazeez)

DIY At Home Shawarma (aka Fake Lazeez)

When I’m at school I love to get Shawarma from a chain called Lazeez. I discovered this glorious chain (which is conveniently located around the corner from my home!) last year and it’s been an epic love affair ever since.

Fragrant Brown Lentil Dahl

Fragrant Brown Lentil Dahl

Hello all! Disclaimer: I am fully aware that June is in full swing and that the weather is, on average, quite consistently hot at this point and this recipe may seem to be better suited for colder temperatures, but I’m here to tell ya that

So, I have a kinda funny story for you all. Well, my life is all kind of a funny story, but this situation really takes the cake. Leading up to Christmas holidays I was experiencing discomfort in my lower jaw near the back of my mouth. It felt like the same kind of discomfort I had experienced when my wisdom teeth were coming in, but I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed back in May (or so I thought), so that didn’t make any sense. I went for a routine cleaning at the dentist over the holidays and told them about my discomfort. They took a look and ended up taking an X-ray, which verified that I most definitely had a full tooth hanging out back there, a tooth that was supposed to have been removed seven months earlier… I was baffled by this discovery, as was my dentist, the hygienist, the receptionist, and the surgeon himself. So it turns out that the surgeon just straight up missed one of the four teeth he was supposed to remove. I have no clue how that is even possible, but I am living proof that it is! Cozy Oatmeal + Cranberry Cookies

Cozy Oatmeal + Cranberry Cookies

With my personal week from hell now officially behind me, I am in a rather celebratory mood and what better way to celebrate than with cookies? For all those who are unaware, last week I had four midterms, which was already bad enough, but I

Well, it’s finally starting to feel like fall and I don’t just mean because of the weather. At this point every one of my roommates (including myself) has been sick, midterms are getting ready to kick my ass and it gets dark before 8pm.

Salted Caramel Dream Bars

Salted Caramel Dream Bars

A few months back I was at Shoppers Drug Mart with some friends and made the happy discovery that my all-time favourite dark chocolate was on sale. Usually I can deter myself from buying chocolate simply because it is so damn expensive, but it was significantly harder to resist when it was only $5 for two whole bars! Needless to say, I bought two bars. I was able to hold off eating this glorious chocolate and instead used it to create something even more decadent, the stuff of dreams I would say. Mixed Berry Yogurt Pots

Mixed Berry Yogurt Pots

Not a word of a lie, this recipe helped me get through finals. Finals are a very strange time of the year, since you no longer have classes it feels like you have more time than you know what to do with, but also not

On-the-Go Greens Scramble

On-the-Go Greens Scramble

Now a days it’s all about ease and convenience. I can definitely relate. This semester has been a total whirlwind of assignments, midterms, exams, and a little bit of fun too, making it difficult to find spare time to do anything for myself. One commitment that I have made and been fairly strict with is to properly fuel my body. When you’re constantly on the go it can be difficult to make good choices in terms of food and it becomes increasingly easy to forget to eat (a concept I never understood until I entered university). As students we are being constantly bombarded by information and somewhat unrealistic expectations, which are nearly impossible to retain or meet if we aren’t treating ourselves kindly.  Continue reading On-the-Go Greens Scramble

Morning Bircher Muesli Mix

Morning Bircher Muesli Mix

At times my life tends to be a little bit disorganized and chaotic, but I try my best to keep my sh*t in order. When I have a bit of free time, I try to get organized to make the days ahead easier. A way
