Honeynut Squash Rigatoni

Honeynut Squash Rigatoni

‘Twas the fall of 2024, and I had created a recipe failure of mass proportions. The silver lining to this culinary atrocity was that it inspired the pivot that led to this Honeynut Squash Rigatoni, which, I am happy to report, is far from a

Fennel and Apple Slaw with Tangy Dijon Dressing

Fennel and Apple Slaw with Tangy Dijon Dressing

I have to confess, I have been a fennel hater pretty much my whole life. Despite this, I had the bright idea to develop a very crisp and autumnal cabbage-based salad with apple and fennel. I know, I even surprised myself with this! I couldn’t shake the idea, and now here we are. Another confession: this Fennel and Apple Slaw with Tangy Dijon Dressing may just be my gateway to fennel acceptance. The thinly sliced apples, cabbage, and fennel pair so beautifully together, and the Dijon dressing really just ties it all together with a big fat bow. If you’re a fennel hater like I was, this salad just might change your mind. Continue reading Fennel and Apple Slaw with Tangy Dijon Dressing

Marbled Miso Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Marbled Miso Chocolate Chunk Cookies

To me, a perfect chocolate chip cookie needs a gooey centre, a crisp edge, and chocolate chunks over chips (sorry!). When I was 11, I was provided lunch at school. The cook at the school made these delicious chocolate chunk cookies on occasion that checked

How to Spend a Day on Bowen Island

How to Spend a Day on Bowen Island

One of the things I have loved the most about living in Vancouver is the proximity to nature and cool destinations. Take Bowen Island, for example. Just a 20-minute ferry ride away from Horseshoe Bay Terminal, Bowen Island is the perfect destination for a summer

Blueberry Hibiscus Iced Tea

Blueberry Hibiscus Iced Tea

Here’s a fun fact about me: I have never had a cup of coffee—I am a tea drinker through and through! Lately, I’ve been swapping my afternoon caffeinated tea for an herbal option, which led me to hibiscus tea. Made from steeping the dried petals of the hibiscus flower in hot water, hibiscus tea is a gorgeous deep pink colour with a tart and refreshing flavour. I’ll be honest, I don’t love hibiscus tea hot, which is why I decided to use it as the base for an iced tea. Paired with a delicious honey-based blueberry syrup, Blueberry Hibiscus Iced Tea has been my afternoon drink of the summer to help keep me refreshed and hydrated.
