Photo Journal No. 3: Green Valley Lake, CA

This past December I visited my extended family on the West Coast in California. During my time in the LA area I was lucky enough to get to spend a few days at the family cottage on Green Valley Lake at an elevation of 7,000

Sheet Pan Sweet Potato Salad with Lemon Tahini Sauce is a super easy sheet pan meal to throw together. It can be eaten warm or can be stored in the fridge for up to four days to serve as a grab-and-go meal. A nice little

Vegetarian Lasagna

Vegetarian Lasagna

I’ve been sitting on this Vegetarian Lasagna recipe for a while. When I was in grade 11 and 12, I worked for a catering company in my hometown over the summers. One of my responsibilities was to make lasagnas for the storefront, which sold prepared foods and lunch items. There was no specific recipe that we followed to make the lasagnas, there were just rough guidelines. After two summers of preparing these, I got pretty good at it. I have always wanted to share my Vegetarian Lasagna recipe, but I had never actually measured anything out or written out a recipe, I’ve always made lasagna by feel. Decadent Hot Chocolate

Decadent Hot Chocolate

With the unfortunate resurgence of winter weather we are currently experiencing here in Southern Ontario, I thought there would be no time like the present to share one of my favourite winter recipes, but who am I kidding? I make this hot chocolate recipe all

A (Self-Proclaimed) Local’s Guide to Vancouver

A (Self-Proclaimed) Local’s Guide to Vancouver

This fall I had the unique opportunity to up and move out west to Vancouver for two months with one of my close friends. We both accepted co-op positions at a Vancouver-based company and decided to use our new jobs as an opportunity to travel

Vegetarian “Sausage” & Noodle Soup

Vegetarian “Sausage” & Noodle Soup

I don’t know what it’s like where you all are, but it has been absolutely freezing here in Ontario the past few weeks. At this point in the season I seem to have a semi-permanent raspy voice from running outdoors in these crazy cold temperatures. Needless to say, I am excited for things to start reopening so I can move my training out of the cold and onto the indoor track. Continue reading Vegetarian “Sausage” & Noodle Soup

Hot Chocolate Cookies

Hot Chocolate Cookies

This past weekend was my annual holiday baking weekend. This year I baked six different types of cookies to share and enjoy over the holidays. I stuck with my annual go-to’s for five of the cookies and decided to try something new for the last

Easy Shakshouka

Easy Shakshouka

I cooked up some deliciously easy Shakshouka on my Instagram stories the other day and saved the recipe to my highlights, but I thought I would write it up and share the recipe here too for anyone who does not have Instagram.

A Rainy Afternoon Thrifting on South Main

A Rainy Afternoon Thrifting on South Main

It was yet another rainy fall Vancouver weekend. What’s different about the rain here versus in Ontario is that the people here are so accustomed to it raining almost all the time that it really doesn’t hinder their day’s plans. In fact, Vancouverites are so used to the rain that in pretty well every here there is an umbrella holder located near the entrance to house shoppers’ umbrellas whilst they browse and shop. When we decided to move to Vancouver for the fall people went “really?” because they knew that Ali and I would be arriving right in time for rainy season. If I’m being honest, I really don’t mind the rain. The only time I dislike rain is when it’s cold out, but the temperature here has been consistently hanging around 12 degrees Celsius, which has been perfect for walking the city as well as for running. Ali and I put on our rain jackets, grabbed our umbrellas and embarked on an afternoon exploration of Main Street, Vancouver. We had multiple recommendation to walk south along Main for a fantastic variety of eclectic thrift stores, gift shops, and good food. I would equate Main to the Queen Street West of Vancouver, if you’re at all familiar with Toronto. Continue reading A Rainy Afternoon Thrifting on South Main

Thanksgiving Weekend on Vancouver Island

Thanksgiving Weekend on Vancouver Island

In my most recent co-op recruiting period I got hired by a Vancouver-based company to complete my third, and final, co-op term of my undergraduate degree. There was an option to work fully remotely from Ontario, or to move out west for a more hybrid
