Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Fine Mesh Sieve

Ingredients

Rose Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup dried rose petals

Valentine's Rose & Blood Orange Margarita

  • 1 - 1.5 ounce blanco tequila*
  • 2 ounces blood orange juice
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce rose simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Sea salt, to rim the glass
  • Dried rose petals, for granish

Instructions

Rose Simple Syrup

  • In a small pot, heat the water and white sugar over medium heat, whisking occasionally. Once the sugar has dissolved, remove the pot from the heat. Whisk in the dried rose petals and allow to infuse for about 25 minutes.
  • Strain the infused syrup through a fine mesh sieve to remove the rose petals. Transfer to a jar and store in the fridge until ready to use.

Rose & Blood Orange Margarita

  • Add some salt to a small plate and crush some dried rose petals into it (optional). Swipe the rim of your glass with a wedge of lime, then roll the glass rim through the salt and rose petal mixture. This step is optional.
  • Fill your cocktail shaker up a quarter of the way with ice. Add the blood orange juice, blanco tequila, lime juice, and rose syrup. Shake well, then serve over ice in your glass of choice. Garnish with a slice of blood orange and some dried rose petals.

Notes

* To make this cocktail into a mocktail, simply omit the tequila and replace it with a couple of ounces of soda.
